New Year Resolutions from a Different Point of View

Updated: Jan 24, 2020

Yes, it’s a new year, which means we all should be wiser and more prepared from the mistakes we made last year, but CHILL OUT! You can resolve to make change ANYTIME during the year. Stop pressuring yourself to make all of your changes the first week of the year. For a solid way to commit to your resolutions and better yourself in 2020 just keep reading…

START WITH THREE & THEN Have a list of other things you want to accomplish and resolve through the rest of the year in addition to your top three. You should keep this list on the NOTEPAD app of your phone and look at it at least once a day. The top three things you should be consistently working on and better yourself by. The others start to get attention when you don’t have to think about your top three anymore, because you are just doing them.

KEEP IT SIMPLE This has always been motto of mine since my middle school science teacher Mr. Albert explained to me… K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid) The simpler you keep things the easier it will be to accomplish them. Why make things harder for yourself then they need to be. You are in control of your resolutions, your week, your life and if you aren’t maybe that should be a resolution to look at moving forward in 2015. When things start to get overly complicated slow back off of them until you gain a wider perspective and then act. K.I.S.S. the sky and be thankful you aren’t overcomplicating things anymore than they need to be.

DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE Three times….! Come on people…if you have gotten this far in this dialogue you should be able to be honest with yourself on what works, what doesn’t, why it’s not working and most importantly STOP yourself from going down the same path that feels comfortable. In 2015 do some things that make you a bit uncomfortable and breaks old habits. Fear is sometimes disguising itself inside comfort so recognize what is preventing you from that change and get a bit uncomfortable making the change happen.

COCO (not CHANEL) Clear Out Clutter Okaaaay! I don’t think this one needs anymore discussion, but I wanted to make it a bit humorous. Start clearing out ALL of the clutter in your life TODAY people. Not just tangible clutter, but emotional clutter, mental clutter and body clutter. A little bit at a time goes a long way when you are letting go. Everything in life doesn’t have to be so serious…I have learned this, but one thing I take VERY seriously is anything cluttering our place in life. Clear it all out now, and then take a bow, cause you got clarity, no more disparity. Am I making myself clear, have no fear, take a drawer at a time and then come up with your own rhyme. Boooya.

CREATE LASTING CHANGE With everything I do in Organize & Create Discipline it’s about lasting change and simple systems that will make your life seamless and functional. Whatever you are doing in your life build it so it lasts. Create a foundation for yourself that won’t be crippled by a few punches and storms, rather will show you where some fixable faults may be growing while protecting you. Simplicity can be be displayed in organization, but it starts from the mindset. Remember that the more you do something the more simple that something will become. Do it “right” and you become a master…do it “your way” and you still become efficient at the practice, but might be able to rewrite the book. Slow and steady in 2015 folks…let’s all win the race.
